10th Tochigi YMCA Charity Run on June 28, 2015
The 10th Tochigi YMCA Charity Run in which sponsored by Tochigi YMCA, Utsunomiya Y's Men's Club and Utsunomiya East Y's Men's Club was held on June 28th, 2015 and this was a great success. 55 teams participated in the relay game. 800 participants were in the program. Earnings of Charity Run were used to invite handicapped children to the Mt. Fuji camp and several programs.

What is Charity Run?
Origin : Under the leadership of physical fitness exponent and TV personality Chuck Wilson, the YMCA/FCSC organized the first YMCA charity run in 1987 to benefit Tokyo YMCA programs for autistic children. The first run attracted 27 teams and raised over JPY 3 million for some two dozen programs throughout Tokyo. Today, there are charity runs organized by 14 city YMCAs, which in 2003 raised almost JP Yen 35 million and supported 110 local camps and programs for mentally and physically challenged children across the country through the Challenged Children Project.

How to hold the Charity Run?
  1. Purpose of Charity Run
    Primarily, Tochigi YMCA uses profit of this event for programs for a handicapped child in Tochigi Prefecture. Next, Tochigi YMCA sends 20% of profit of this event to Japanese YMCA and uses it for a program for a handicapped child of the whole Japanese.
  2. Main program
    Tochigi YMCA raises groups approving of a program. These groups constitute it with five people and groups pays an entrance fee of 30,000 Yen (US$260) per group and relay about 7km and compete. This entrance fee is the main charity. These groups can use a uniform of own company.
  3. The recruitment of sponsors.
    Tochigi YMCA recruits companies becoming a sponsor of some groups of students having difficulty with payment of an entrance fee. Tochigi YMCA recruits the companies and individuals who can contribute a prize. In addition, Tochigi YMCA recruits companies and individuals who can help for the expense that is necessary for holding. All expense for this event has been covered by these donations.
