Nezame Fireball

Return back to the meteorite list

At 13:30:29 on July 12, 2025 (UT), a slow-speed fireball appeared flying from the Hida region of Gifu Prefecture toward southern Nagano Prefecture.
The fireball was captured by six cameras, primarily from the SonataCo Network.
The light trail showed two clear brightenings, suggesting damage during flight.
The atmospheric entry velocity was approximately 16.3 km/s, and the endding altitude was approximately 26.3 km.
Velocity changes show signs of fragmentation early in the path, and the mass loss appears to slow toward the end of the path.
It is estimated that approximately 80g ultimately remained and fell to the ground.
The predicted area for the object to fall is estimated to be near Nezame-no-Tokon in Ena Valley, Agematsu City, Nagano Prefecture, and a search is expected to recover it.
