Ghosts from 20th, Ideals for 21st Centuries

I could not sleep well last night because of ghosts from 20th century. That is nothing but the military aggression of Russia into Ukraine. Mockeries of the historical events in 20th century were repeated.

The Russian ambassador to Japan explained in fluent Japanese that Russia does not regard Ukraine and Belarus as independent states but parts of Russia herself.

It reminded me that Serbia claimed Kosobo as the land of their tribal origin hence opposed Kosobo get independent.

It also reminded me of the annexation of Korea by the Great Empire of Japan in 1910. A theory claiming Japan and Korea share common ancestry was loudly announced in those days. That is a reason I started learning the Korean language, to confirm the theory in person. The conclusion; they are very similar in grammar but totally different in proper vocabularies. I hear Mongolian language is also similar to Japanese in grammar. Furthermore languages over wide areas of Eurasia continent share similar language structures as Japanese hence they are grouped as Ural-Altai languages. If Japan and Korea are to share common ancestors then we would be likewise relatives with many peoples who now form member countries of Russian Union today. By the way Japanese language is totally different from Russian in grammar or vocabulary. The same applies to Chinese language despite of the facts our ancient ancestors learned fully from then advanced Chinese culture including writing systems.

In the eastern corners of Ukraine, Putsin made them form “peoples’ republics” and unilaterally “recognized” them as independent states. He took the formality to have those so-called republics

make requests for Russian invasion to Ukraine for “protection.”

It reminded me of erecting “Manchuria” by the Great Empire of Japan in 1932. Manchuria was recognized by no governments except for Japan. Deplored by the world as against the international law, the Great Empire of Japan left the League of Nations. The propagandas like “heaven-like kingdom” or “harmony of five nations” were bare lies as clearly revealed in the histories.

Pretending to invade the eastern corners of Ukraine, the Russian military suddenly began the whole scale attacks and invasion to whole areas of Ukraine. That reminded me of the sudden attack of Pearl Harbor by the Imperial Navy (1941). The attack destroyed the powerful peace movement in the US, and gave her government a cause to join the war. The sudden attack of Russia on Ukraine without announcement will bring similar effects in the international society today.

Kiev will be main battlefield soon. If the Ukraine persists in resistance, I hope Putsin will become very unpopular and be kicked out in Russia. But the war will bring sheer scale of human disaster and I believe the world needs to fully support Ukraine with matters including arms so the Ukrainians defeat the Russian military invader.

Russia has no right or capability to rule Ukraine. What it can do is nothing more than the crush of the Praha’s Spring by Soviet Union (1968). The setting came to an end by the fall of Soviet Union herself (1991), which was mainly caused by her military invasion into Afghanistan. I think Putsin is following a similar course which will end in disintegration of the Union of Russia.

The true cause of the invasion probably is to conceal the failures of Putsin regime itself. Russia today is formally a democratic state which is in fact a stolen power. The proof is the assassinations or detentions of political opponents or journalists including those in foreign countries by highly professional manners as using radioactive substances. In Sochi Olympics (2014) a failure occurred that one of the five circles failed to open in the opening ceremony. In normal societies it would be simply a laughable event but in Russia the person in charge was later assassinated probably by order of Putsin who felt deeply ashamed of the accident.    .

Democracy is based on respect of different opinions of minorities. The power to govern is given by the people for a term. It should be returned to the people at expiration of the term. Putsin violated this principle of democracy clinging to power for 22 years by cheating the rule using his followers as fakes. The regime must be haunted with ghosts from 20th  or even 19th century.

It is the most important that the acts of war must be stopped soon and Russian troops get out of Ukraine. And the war crimes must be punished.

Russia is the biggest supplier of energy. We must be prepared for energy shortages. It will be a chance to change our economy to be based on more reusable sources of energy; sun-beams, winds, waves, heat of the earth and bio-masses. The new corona pandemic has already worked to change our economy to more distributed structure. The fight against the war will bring hardship to Russian people, too. But I hope it will help them to reveal the evil nature of the regime and destroy Putsin regime.

Democracy is the ideal to be fully established today. With complete freedom and equality, who would ever go for such a war?
