概 要
Under new situations and challenges to the continued success of 3G wide area cellular systems and systems beyond, operators, as well as end-users, might now have at hand several new additional wireless systems to choose from, such as Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) systems. To the press and analysts, often the offered bit rates by mobile communication systems are of principal focus and importance. On the contrary, it will be suggested here that there is much more to a successful and widespread end-user acceptance for a particular system or standard, than the offered bit rate (capacity). Therefore, for operators, and for the industry in general, when considering renewing regulations, including spectrum strategies, it is important to establish and base their new business strategies on realistic business situation and not only rely on their excellence in competing with the capacity performance.
