Topic : Sources of Happiness

Happy New Year!

Owing to your support this ML enter the seventh year.

Human beings are animals that exchange things among themselves.

Those things exchanged are not only limited to goods but also extend to information as far as emotion. Is it not enjoyable to see others enjoy themselves and painful to watch others suffer? Conversation with words is what makes us human beings; we even talk with ourselves in thinking.

I can now praise myself

So said Arimori Youko when she won a bronze medal in 1996 Atlanta Olympic marathon race. She is a great runner who had achieved another medal, silver in the previous Olympic race. As we know ourselves best we are certainly happy when we can praise ourselves.

I thank all those who supported me

Is also what many people with distinguished achievement say. We know ourselves best subjectively but little objectively. Therefore we are certainly happy when we are highly evaluated by others.

Happiness must be creative.

Happiness is achieved when we can fulfill the target we set for ourselves. The happiness must be genuine, which is achieved only through real and creative efforts.

Sympathy with others is happiness.

Human beings are social animals but individuals are separate beings. We can not know minds of other people. Furthermore we can not completely know our own minds either. There is a vast subconscious part in human mind. We tend to take it a fact what is merely our guess. Those you regard as your enemies certainly seem to act antagonistically to you always. Doubt generates misconception. This tendency is a shortcoming of human intelligence causing numerous tragedies. Therefore one feels happy when one shares sympathy with others.

The above statements are summarized in the following poems.

No pain of creation, no gain of completion.

What you do for others returns to you through the world.

Then you had better work on your own for the world.
