7/21 Candle Action for Gaza

About 500 hundred people gathered to express our anger against the appalling destruction and killing citizens in Gaza by Israeli military attacks.

We heard reports from Gaza, shocked and angered by the atrocities. In order to express our support to the Gazan people in such horrible situations, we formed a huge man-formed letter GAZA. The candles in the night made a clear letter of gigantic size which, we hope may encourage the Gazan people in such hardship and also appeal to Israeli people with normal common senses. Root of Palestine Problems

The foundation of Israel in 1948 had been determined by British Empire and other Imperial states. The decision was made with a total neglect of the people residing in the land for generations. With the founding declaration of the state of Israel, spread the rumor that genocide began. A great many residents fled to avoid the killing. They expected they could come home in a matter of days, hence they fled empty handed, on bare foot. However,

The state of Israel rejected the return of the rightful residents to their homes thus created “Palestinian Refugee Problem”.

It is quite clear the above behavior of Israel is totally against the humanity.

The Israeli government blames HAMAS for its rocket attacks and makes it for an excuse of the bombardment of Gaza where millions of people live.

It is an act of war apparent to anyone but it is only a part of the war that always exists in Palestine by the imperialistic policy of Israel; the blockade and occupation, expansion of Jewish settlement and racial segregation policies.

[1] Blockade

Gaza is always under siege by Israel. The blockade destroys the industrial base and hinders any economic growth of Gaza. Despite of the fact GAZA possesses a long coast　along the Mediterranean Sea, there can not grow any fishery business in Gaza because of the blockade.

[2] Occupation of west bank and expansion of Jewish settlement

Israel never ceases this act despite of all the reproach of the whole world.

[3] Racial separation; Ugly wall

The ugly wall Israel has built in the west bank shows a racial segregation policy even worse than the Apartheid in South Africa. South Africa became a fully accepted member of the international community after abolishment of Apartheid half a century ago. Israel will never be accepted in the world so long as she continues her selfish, racial and imperialistic policies.

For permanent peace in Israel and Palestine

Based on the above facts I recommend;

<1> Return the land Israel occupied in 1967

The legitimate land of the state of Israel does not include the land she occupied in 1967. War, occupation and annexation are of Imperialistic behavior the mankind has historically graduated on lessons gained by the terrible world wars in the previous century. Israel gained some land but a lot more problems by the 1967 war. Remember Israel established peace with Egypt by returning Sinai peninsula as a whole.

<2> Lift the siege of Gaza

The hostility of Gazan people against Israel will be lifted by lift of the blockade.

<3> Help Palestinean people establish their state

If Israel has the right to exist as a state, so do Palestinian people, don’t they? The Palestine state will not threaten the security of Israel at all.

It will rather contribute to the growth of Israel herself by promotion of the trades between the two nations. Israel will be relieved from the enormous burden for the defense and the incessant tension with her neighbors and reproach of the world.

To the people of Israel and Palestine

Do not leave the politics to politicians. Promote direct talks between Israel and Palestinian people. The people have no reason to fight each other. They rather need each other for trading partners. The “enemies” are created by the Imperial state which is a war machine, hence need enemies to maintain their positions. They threaten their own people by citing enemy threat which is in fact their own creation. Israel imposes blockade on Gazan people, but at the same time on their own people by inhibiting free trade between the two nations.

Direct talks between Israeli and Palestine people will break the deadlock between Israeli and Palestine governments. The sovereignty comes from the people in democracy and the government is formed to serve the people. Do not let the servant command on the master.

Israeli people have been persecuted in the world through ages. That is why they rebuilt the state of Israel in Palestine in 1948 but with much poorer concepts than their ancestors 2000 years ago. Read your own testaments. The ancient Israel was an international state with Jews, Samaritans, Greeks, Romans and many other people. Read your own old testament and find how humble your ancestor Abraham was when he bought the first piece of land there.

Since the foundation of the state and especially after the 1967 war victory, Israel has repeated the history of persecution but this time as assailant. Isn't it about a time to step into the new stage in human history?
